| Nassau CC Takes 4th Place at Volleyball Nationals! |
Nassau Community College women's volleyball got off to a sluggish start in their early morning match against 7th seed Montgomery College out of Rockville Maryland, but rallied to take 4th place at the NJCAA Division III National Volleyball Championships in five sets.They lost the first game 18-25. The second game of the match was a tight back and forth contest until the Lions took a 19-16 lead, forcing a Montgomery timeout. The timeout gave Montgomery some momentum, but Hannalee Fordyce hit two massive kill shots to give Nassau a 22-20. Nassau won the game at 25-20 to tie the match at 1-1Nassau got behind early in the 3rd game, calling a timeout at 4-11 to try and mount a rally. Camille Newkirk served for several points bringing the Lions within 3 at 13-16. That ended Nassau's run and they lost the game 19-25 The 4th game of the match was within two points the entire game until Nassau pulled away at 17-17 to take a 20-17 lead. Montgomery came back and tied the game at 23-23 but a great dig Camillle Newkirk, then a kill by Hannalee Fordyce and a kill by Alexa Borresen sent the match to a fifth game with a 25-23 win.The Lions finished off the match with a final game 15-10 win to become the 4th best team in the nation in NJCAA Division 3 Volleyball.
